I have decided to use Cheryl's link up as a way to post about the last few weeks in the NICU! These were the good days! The days that we knew our hospital time was limited. We were hearing promising words from nurses that included " at home "!
These pictures were taken on April, 4th 2008. Molly and Luke were 11 days from being 2 months old! This was a HUGE day for Luke! Can you tell by looking at the below picture why?? this is how Todd and I walked in to find him that morning.
He had been on a whiff Of oxygen for a week, but his night nurse took him completely off that night. This had been tried before, but he never lasted. This time he did! I can't describe what it was like to see your baby's face free of oxygen tubing for good! His face looked so much softer and baby like (see below)! It probably sounds crazy, but that is when I knew he was going to be fine. The fears of him not going home with me completely dissolved! My baby boy was a breather!

Luke did not want to celebrate his victory with us that day! His eyes just didn't want to stay open.

So cute! We had a shorter, less dramatic NICU stay, but it was still such an emotional time. What a wonderful day-- to find your little man breathing on his own!! Even after they've come so far, I'm sure that memory will never leave you.
How precious! And tiny!! Do all twins end up in NICU when they are born?

Thanks! No, not all twins. I think a lot are born after 36 weeks and have a good chance of going home with their Mom. I had mine early due to preeclamsia. My blood pressure was high and had protein in my urine that put me on hospital bedrest at 27 weeks. I was there not even a week when my sons cord blood started slowing signs of reverse flow. That is when the dr decided they would be safer on the outside than inside.

Such precious pictures. I remember going to visit my twins in the NICU and seeing tubes removed. My daughter was a feisty one and she often decided when tubes should be pulled, by pulling them herself! It was such a good feeling to see them doing things like breathing and eating on their own. Thanks for sharing these pictures!
Praise God for how far they have come! We are so blessed and how thankful I know you are everyday to see them in action! Have a GREAT rest of the week!
I can only imagine what those first few months must have been like for you. What precious photos to remind you what fighters they were and just how far they've come.
