My thoughts...

I have so many thoughts that run through my head regarding Luke. It is so hard for me to swallow this PDD-NOS pill. Why??? I see his twin sister that has no struggles. She can answer the WH questions without any thought. She can have social conversations without problems. She can sit still and listen easily. Why can't Luke? I so wish they were identical on that part...who wants to see their baby struggle. Not me! I hate that he has to work so hard to be a "typical" 4 year old. I am so grateful for all the things that he is good at. He gets excited to see me and cries when I leave. He gives the best hugs and kisses. His cuddles are the BEST. He says the ABC's with such character. Loves counting with team Umi Zoomie on Nick JR. Enjoys singing twinkle twinkle little star for whoever will listen. Never meets a stranger. Always makes sure his sister has and gets the same thing he has. 

Last Wednesday we received some very AWESOME news...Luke got into the school we so disparately wanted. Yes, it won't start until August, but we are so excited!!  Molly will also join him in the same classroom. There are therapists at the school, plus you can have outside therapists come in. This will be a 45 minute daily (8:30 to 4) commute to and from for Todd and the grandparents. Unfortunately I won't be able to help. I work the opposite direction. Thank GOD we have family to help us! 

I want to apologize for not getting back into my blog reading yet. Todd and I just took a week vacation by ourselves to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. Which really is in March, but didn't want to be with the spring breakers. :) I promise to commit as soon as I get settled back in. xoxo 

I am back...

Oh how I have missed my bloggy friends!! I am so sorry to keep you hanging for so long!! So much as taken place since my last post. I am sure I have missed so much your way too! My kids had a great Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and most recently 4th Birthday!! 

First I want to explain my unexplained break...

Hubby and I noticed for a while Luke falling further and further behind Molly with speech. At first we blamed prematurity and thought he would catch up, but it became pretty obvious we needed help. Not only were we struggling with his communication skills, but his attention span and hyperactivity was apparent. We made an appointment with a specialist for guidance. He pointed us to a great therapy place, plus sent Luke to be evaluated for Autism. Luke started speech therapy 3 times a week back in October and OT therapy once a week this month. He had his Autism evaluation middle October. First let me say this...it totally was not what I expected. After 2 hours she completed her text book evaluation and told us it would take her 3 hours to "grade" the results. She then called my husband to say the results were inconclusive and she felt Luke needed retested in 9 months. Here is the shocker...2 1/2 months later we got a copy of the evaluation and to our surprise Luke was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. Which is on the Autism spectrum. Todd and I have come to terms it...don't get me wrong, I have my days that I am pissed, sad and in disbelief. He has made HUGE strides with therapy. He now tells us what he wants & how he feels. We still can not sit down and have a conversation with him, but I am hoping that will come in the near future. I plan on sharing so much more, but need to ease back into blogging!

Taking a break!

Thomas came to town!!

I can't believe I am sharing this!!!

We got Daddy a Macbook for his birthday...Nice is an understatement!! He was playing around getting familiar with all it can do and found out it has this funny program (I guess you call it that?) that takes pictures and distorts them. Here is Luke and mine's picture! It was called chipmunks, but to me we look like the WHO characters on "Horton hears a Who".

What do you think?!?! I know you are laughing with us and not at us, right!?!

What did she do....stuck her tongue out! Keep in mind I could not see her or the display on the iPhone when taking these shots!! updated- I really should have noted I was not driving while taking these photos. I was seating in the 2nd roll seats. M & L were in the 3rd seats.

When I viewed the second shot I saw she once again gave me a sticking out tongue shot! Silly girl!

I burst out laughing by the 3rd shot viewing, so at that point she thought it was a big joke!

I once again asked her to please give me a big smile! This time she hit the nail on the head! Sweet girl!

Bub gave me a smile on the very first request! Sweet boy!

This boy...

is my everything!!! I couldn't have asked for a sweeter baby boy! His laugh is contagious and his smile melts my heart every time I see it.

Road trip!!

This weekend we decided to take a short road trip to the Arbuckle Mountains...yes, you read that right. Oklahoma isn't all flat! Some may call them hills, but you get my point! ;-) Mommy forgot the real camera, so here is our trip in iPhone pictures.

We actually rented a nice A frame house overlooking Arbuckle Lake with a huge deck...only problem was the opening in the railing was way to wide for this mommy. The house also had one of those spiral metal staircases. My nerves would have been shot if we stayed, so I called the owner to see if she had anything else available. Thank goodness she had a log cabin close by. Of course it wasn't on the lake, but with this heat and drought nothing really is right on the lake, right ?!?!

Here is a picture of M & L enjoying the hot (cold) tub! They had a ball playing in there!

Our first adventure was Arbuckle Wilderness. It is a huge drive through animal park were you can feed the animals right out of your car window. I hadn't been there since I was a kid. M & L enjoyed it. The Zebra was my favorite!

Of course we stopped into the gift shop for a souvenir. L picked out a play set and M picked out a stuffed lemur with a baby lemur.

After picking out their souvenirs we walked over to a play area. They had fun playing on these motorized toys. :)

The next day we headed to GW exotic animal park. They have over 190 large cats. Most of those have been rescued from poor living environments. They also have bears, monkeys, birds, wolfs and lots more. They run strictly off donations. They strive to make the living environments as best as possible for the animals despite being caged up. You can tell it is their passion.

At the end of the tour we got to go into a petting area to play with the baby tigers. They were so adorable!! I wish they stayed small because I would so want one!

The playing turned a little rough when one tried to take my sons leg off!

So Luke made friends with this little wiener dog! A little more his size! So sweet!

We had a great time! It was way too hot, but we didn't let that spoil our fun! :) Have a great week friends!
